Privacy

There are some things we think you should know about the use of cookies and how we handle your privacy. If you have any questions then please feel free to e-mail us at inquiry@sci-scotland.org.uk

COOKIES

Cookies are small pieces of code used to help make a website run more effectively. Sustainable Communities Initiatives’ (SCI for short) website was created using WordPress.com and is an ad-free version so you won’t encounter any of the more invasive cookies on our site.

Automattic (the company that operates WordPress) does collect some non-personally identifying information though, including statistical information that helps us to better understand how our website is being used e.g. how many visitors we get to the site, date they visited, where they come from (country rather than home address!), what pages they visit, how many pages do they view during their visit etc.

In addition Automattic may also collect some potentially personally identifying information (your computer’s IP address).

To find out more about the information Automattic collects and the way it is used you may wish to have a look at their privacy policy

DISABLING COOKIES

If you want to disable cookies entirely you can do so via your browser settings. Please be aware that doing so could adversely affect your experience on some websites (particularly those with shopping carts).

To find out more about cookies and how you can block them you may wish to take a look at All About Cookies

PRIVACY

We take your privacy very seriously and take the utmost care with this information. We will never sell it to other companies or advertisers, nor do we give it away free to them.

We do collect some other information which is personally identifiable. We obtain this information either because you are a customer or client of SCI, you work for SCI, you’ve signed up for one of our newsletters or you’ve enquired about our products or services.

The only time that we will disclose any of this personal information to a third party is if you have either given us your express permission or if we are required to do so by law.

You can request details of personal information that we may hold about you. Requests to provide such information may be subject to the payment of a small fee to cover our admin costs.

If you have any questions about our privacy policy or the way we treat your personal data then please contact us by email to inquiry@sci-scotland.org.uk or by post to Sustainable Communities Initiatives, Earthship Fife Visitor Centre, Kinghorn Loch, Kinghorn, Fife, KY3 9YG.

EXTERNAL WEBSITES

As you browse through our website you may find links to other external websites. We take care who we link to but please be aware that we do not have any control over the content of these sites. It is possible that the content on these sites may have changed since we linked to them – if you notice a broken link or find that the link takes you to something you feel is inappropriate we would be very grateful if you could let us know.
